Project Overview
-
Hyatt Place Boston/Seaport District, a new luxury hotel situated along Boston’s picturesque Harbor waterfront, sought to enhance its guest experience with a curated art collection. This 297-room hotel features a thoughtful design that combines style and practicality, including 6,724 square feet of versatile event space.
The goal was to create a sophisticated art program including hundreds of artworks that complemented the hotel’s elegant atmosphere and met the expectations of both leisure and business travelers.

Key Challenge
Situation
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, we encountered a supply chain disruption that impacted our project. A wall sculpture was no longer available for purchase.
Task
I was tasked with finding an alternative solution to ensure the project was completed on time and within budget.
Action
I promptly escalated the issue, proposed multiple solutions, and solved the problem.
Result
As a result, the sculpture was delivered on schedule and within budget.

Key Actions
-
I initiated research for alternative solutions, exploring various options such as sourcing from other vendors, creating a 3D printed version, and commissioning local artists.
-
To facilitate informed decision-making, I developed a detailed comparison spreadsheet, effectively evaluating and contrasting the available solutions. This approach ensured a data-driven assessment and supported strategic project management decisions.
-
I developed a comprehensive value proposition and implementation plan for the preferred solution. Through strategic communication and thorough analysis, I successfully obtained key stakeholders' approval.
-
Based on my plan, I identified a local vendor capable of modifying an existing sculpture to meet our needs. I developed a new process for the modification and oversaw the production to ensure it met our quality standards.
